That's an absolute orgy of food, stargold! I feel full just reading it.

Whilst CX is one of my favourite airlines, to even think of taking them over NH ? (OK, I know you may have had a schedule to meet etc.)

The sea bream, however, was still excellent.
On my one and only NH F flight so far, I had the sashimi soon after takeoff and it was the same as you experienced it, i.e. dry and uninspired. I was also silly enough (no thanks to certain large people who were quick to offer advice about the Super Cheeseburger and Krug but didn't warn me about the Japanese food! ) to go for the Japanese meal whilst the other Japanese passengers seemed to have gone for the L'Oasis menu ... I found out why!

Excellent pics, StarGold! Good example of how nice pictures do not need to be taken with fancy SLRs.

You lucky lucky boy to have two servings of NH! All that yummy food.

I didn't know you speak both Japanese and German too, stargold?! Anyway, if I were you, I would've asked NH to endorse myself to CX F just so you could try another another airline .

As always, thank you for the brilliant TR. Absolutely top notch. Now, if only ANA had released more award availability...

Thank you for correcting his extremely poor grammar!

And, for the record, I know that most will opt for the Japanese Meal ex-NRT as it is usually quite good. Personally, I've had it too many times and, therefore, mimic my fellow Japanese businessmen passengers.

Thanks for another great TR, stargold.
You have quite the gift for narration.
Every time I read your TRs,
I feel like I'm there in real time,
experiencing it all as you are.
I'm looking forward to many more TRs from you.
F all the way. Settle for J. Usually whY. Sigh.

An excellent and very thorough trip report StarGold.

High praise indeed coming from the meticulous Singapore Air.

That was phenomenal. Phenomenal in every possible way.

Glad to see you enjoyed the food, and my goodness, I'm getting hungry just reading.
Gosh, I'm blushing at the high praise. So... worth the wait I hope?

Thank you! Yup - the most memorable inflight meal in my life, with the only close runner-up being the monster lobster on my LHR-SIN!

When did this happen?! I really should peek in on TOF more often.

Excellent comments and pics! I completely agree.

And when did they add Rooibos to the menu??? Awesome stuff!

Dude, I'm sorry about your Super Cheeseburger experience. I must say, that is the poorest presentation I've seen of it. You should have sent it back and had them prepare another one properly -- after all, it is NH... Plus, a properly prepared one goes much better with the Krug.
Well, I think it's safe to say that me and HUGE AL share a near-fetish about NH F Thank you!

PS. I think rooibos tea has been available for a long time - it was available last year and probably before that too.

Yes, without a doubt! It will be a nice break from the "usual" kebaya and multi-coloured ties as well NH F seems to have lost very little in terms of the soft product in the last 8 years, which is pretty amazing given how far others have fallen (are you listening, UA?!)

I, on the other hand, feel rather hungry after having just seen the photos again. Where's my wagyu steak... I wonder whether anyone delivers perfectly cooked Wagyu steak at 6am?

Ah, the frozen wastes of Siberia - much beloved by certain people.
I may be planning a Siberian adventure quite soon... though I might just fly OZ C this time.

It wasn't so much of a schedule issue, but I figured that since I had already enjoyed such a good flight from/back to NRT, it could well be my only chance of flying CX F if there was a possibility of being reaccommodated. CX F availability using BD miles is somewhat poor as you could imagine

Well, at least you know what to choose when you next find yourself settling into the "salary-man" colour schemed NH F suite

Thank you! My trusty £55 P&S continues its excellent service... though a certain Panasonic LX3 might be joining me soon to give me amazing wideangle ability and hopefully even more interesting pics. And yes, I know I'm a very lucky boy to have both meals, as well as a free meal on the ground, all on one flight!

Thank you! But more importantly, when will you start doing TRs? Maybe when you find an NH F space sometime?

Thank you so much - I'm glad to hear that you found my (excessively verbose?) writing style enjoyable. You might be amazed to hear that it has been 17,000 words total for the trip report so far... (with a short final segment on LH coming up soon). If only writing dissertations etc was as easy as this!

My recent travels have been recorded with newly acquired LX3.

Very happy with it, especially indoor shots.

You get used to having to remove the lens cover before taking your shot.

                            Great TR as always.

Now you have me obsessing about trying NH F!

That very well may be. I'm usually too tanked by the time I get to thinking about tea. On my last flight they loaded 5 bottles of Krug.

Note to self: when on the same NH F flight as HUGE AL, remind the CP to safely hide away at least one bottle for the rest of the F cabin...
