  • The Begining, SUB-CGK-SIN-(HKG)-SFO

This one should be the first installment of my “Hari Raya” long trip, SUB-CGK-SIN-HKG-SFO-PHL-SJU-ORD-NRT-SIN-SYD-OOL-SYD-SIN-CGK-SUB.
I’ve already posted my later segments here, ORD-NRT with NH in J (here) and NRT-SIN in R (here)

    GA302
    Sector: SUB-CGK
    Date: 26SEP08
    Seat: 1F
    ETD: 0600
    ETA: 0720
    Aircraft: B737-400

I left home very early to catch my GA302 flight to CGK. This would be the beginning of my very long journey to SFO. I left home around 4.30am. Practically just 2 hours sleep at that night. So that was a very sleepy beginning to start.

GA lounge at SUB just basic, but have a decent choice of food and drink, but no alcoholic drink provided. I forgot to take pictures of this lounge, damn my still frozen brain!!!

Waiting rooms at SUB terminal have a great tarmac view. Love this kind of design!

CX big bird waited her passengers for heading back to HKG:

    My ride to CGK:

We pushed back just 10 minutes late, which is considering normal with GA.

We arrived just 5 minutes late at CGK T2.

    The Begining, SUB-CGK-SIN-(HKG)-SFO

    SQ955
    Sector: CGK-SIN
    Date: 26SEP08
    Seat: 11A
    ETD: 1025
    ETA: 1300
    Aircraft: B777-200
    Load: Full House

After a long walk from the gate to the baggage claim area and waited for about 15 minutes, I collected my luggage and went upstairs to check in for my next long flight with SQ.

The SQ agent managed to check in me through to SFO, even those CGK-SIN-(HKG)-SFO sector were on 2 separate PNR. I had two separate ticket for those long journey. One for CGK-SIN-SYD-SIN-CGK. And the other for SIN-(HKG)-SFO-PHL-SJU-ORD-NRT-SIN.

SQ is using Esplanade Lounge for their premium pax.
This lounge has quite a decent food and drink choices, including alcoholic drinks which has bartender to serve you.

The flight pushed back 30 minutes late.
Sorry, no picture from this flight. Too shy to took picture on this full flight
The service was great as usual, but felt a little bit rush. Maybe because of the full load and a very short flight, 1h10m.
Seat was the regional business class seat with 2-3-2 arrangement, wich was quite comfy for this short flight.
I forgot about the menu, because of the very nice and chatty neighbor at 11B

We arrived at SIN T2 just 10 minutes late.

      The Begining, SUB-CGK-SIN-(HKG)-SFO

      SQ002
      Date: 26SEP08
      Seat: 3A
      Aircraft: B747-400
      Sector: SIN-HKG
      ETD: 1750
      ETA: 2135
      Load: 10/12
      Sector: HKG-SFO
      ETD: 2245
      ETA: 2015
      Load: 11/12

Already got my BP for SIN-SFO sector at CGK, I just went directly to SIN T3.
The T3 just as great as my last visit on August. So airy, full of natural light, spacious, modern and efficient.

Here some pictures of SIN T3:

After a short visit to duty free shops, I went to SKL F lounge.

The lounge as usual, feels spacious, not many people inside the F section.

Because I began my journey very early this morning, I felt I need a shower right now. So after entering the lounge, I directly went to the shower room. Because they don’t have toilet inside the shower room, after put my bags inside the room, I went to the toilet first to do “my natural job”, and then back to shower room.

Here the picture of the toilet…

I love this T3 shower room better than T2’s one.

      They have “3 ways shower”…

30 minutes before boarding time I left the SKL, and take a walk around the area near the gate.

There are a lot of free internet stall in front of gate A1-8 “common” lounge:

The SQ002 would depart from gate A2 this time:

          View around the gate:

Boarding was on time, and commence in the usual sequence: children and elderly, PPS, first and business class pax, * G, and Y in row sequence.

IFS greeted me at the door, and escorted me to my seat at 3A, and asked me for what I want to drink.
Of course I asked for Krug

My seat for this long flight, 3A:

          Other seats:

View from my window to the gate:

For the after takeoff drink, I asked for the infamous Singapore Sling. This came with a bowl of nuts. And yes, these nuts were warmed up!

            The Begining, SUB-CGK-SIN-(HKG)-SFO

The nice LSS came to confirm that I had order BTC for Kyo Kaiseki, which I confirmed that.

The dinner was served not long after takeoff.

As usual, the Kyo Kaiseki tasted superb for me… my fav!

            First tray:

            Second Tray:

            Dessert:

I managed to watch some movie from this extensive SQ AVoD IFE

We arrived at HKG on time. For pax who continued the journey to SFO like me, must disembark the plane with all our belonging. At the end of the jet bridge, there were officers whose directed us, the transit pax, to the security line, which was quite strict because this plane bound to US. After security check, we went upstairs to the departure gate. Not much time left made me had no time to visit SKL F at HKG this time. I just wait about 15 minutes before the boarding was announced. Once again boarding was in the standard sequence.
Went back to the plane, this time with a new set of crew onboard. The crew as nice as before. Greeted by LS at the door, and escorted to my previous seat, be asked for my pre takeoff drink which I asked for Choya Umeshu (Japanese plum wine).
The other LSS distributed pajamas and amenity kits.
This time, misunderstanding happened. The LS came with Soya Milk for me. I confused, and asked him: “what is this?” He got confused too, and answered me: “this is soya, sir”. I told him that I want the choya, not soya milk. And I show him the drink menu. Poor my Asian tongue, so hard to be understood..
He felt embarrassed and said sorry so many time to me. It’s make me felt sorry to had make him so embarrassed

The picture of my "Choya" and "Soya".

For after takeoff drink, I asked for another Choya Umeshu (this drink has became my fav drink).
But this time, no nuts to accompanied my drink

Shortly after takeoff, a LSS approached me to confirmed me that I had BTC-ed “Braised abalone and mushroom in oyster sauce with flat noodles” for supper.
After took a look at the menu, I asked her to keep my Abalone noodle for breakfast, and for supper I opted the Shi Quan Shi Mei from the menu. She was happily to do that for me. So nice of her!

Shi Quan Shi Mei cold dishes:

Shi Quan Shi Mei hot dishes:

            Dessert:

After the nice dinner, I went to the toilet to brush my teeth. When I came back to my seat, it has turned into the bed! Nice! The crew could read my mind!
I managed to sleep more than 6 hours

Three hours before landed, I felt hungry, and asked for the breakfast.

And this is my Breakie (the muesli yogurt in the center was very delicious)

This is my “ex-supper” abalone noodle.
The abalones were so rubbery, very hard to chew! Not recommend this food to be BTC-ed.

We arrived at SFO a little earlier. As a person who is the list of US special registrant, secondary interview looks like a mandatory for me. Always do this every time I entered USA. Immigration officers at SFO were among the nicest one in the country, so this time not took so long for me to clear them, not more than 1 hour.
After collect my luggage, I went upstairs to the departure level to catch Westin SFO shuttle bus to the hotel (Westin SFO provide complimentary shuttle from airport to hotel vv)
Felt very tired from the very long journey, I slept as soon as I got into my room.

              I agree with you.

One of the things I don't like about Changi is the poor views of the tarmac.

              Thanks for posting.

              Love the pictures

Wow...great report. Thank you. The Kaiseki meal on SQ looked delicious.

I am surprised that GA actually served full breakfast on SUB-CGK. Looks like it has upped its service lately again.

I actually like the Singapore Sling... And a lot of my friends love it too. Of course, I've never had it from Raffles Hotel but isn't the ones on board meant to be the same or at least similar? Regardless, it taste good to me anyways.. and I've never heard complains from people that it was bad...

Except this one waiting room (forgot the number) at T2, where you can see all the actions up close. IIRC it was the one at the far end of E pier.
