Final reflections...
I had a lot of fun on this trip. Work-wise everything went very well, and I had time after hours to have some very nice meals and drinks. It was quite a treat to fly 4 different airlines on a single itinerary.
My favourite flight on this trip was the initial SQ SIN-MEL sector although I was quite happy with my flights on Air New Zealand and LATAM as well.
Another highlight was the short VA MEL-SYD sector in business class, where I really enjoyed the luxury of a full breakfast + sparkling wine on a short 1 hour flight.
After so many flights in 9-abreast 787 economy cabins, I no longer complain about this seat layout, although I still wish airlines would follow JAL's example and configure their 787 cabins in 8-abreast 2-4-2.
It was a bummer not to be able to go for runs in Sydney and Auckland while I was there. My knee injury did not heal till several weeks after returning to Singapore, and it took a while for me to get back to a good running routine, but thankfully it looks to be more or less recovered now, and I was able to head for runs on subsequent trips.
I enjoyed my stays in all three cities. I've been to Melbourne and Sydney a lot recently, but it has been a really long time since I was back in Auckland, and I really enjoyed visiting again.
Thanks for reading!
