To celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary, Mrs soak01 and I thought we'd take advantage of some cheap Virgin Blue airfares and head off to Hobart in Tasmania for the weekend. Managed to get tickets for $89 AUD each way.
Used the Virgin Blue online check-in (available 24hrs before departure) and found that we had been allocated seats 8A and 8B, therefore no need to change seats although the option was available. Out of curiosity I had a look to see what was available. Only seats towards the rear of the plane showing as available. Didn't bother me though as Mrs soak01 prefers to sit towards the front on these smaller aircraft.
On arrival at ADL airport no waiting at the Virgin Blue bag drop desk and were offerred emergency exit row seat (Seat 12E & F) in place of allocation. These are classed as "Blue Zone" seats which you normally have to pay $30 extra per flight due to the extra leg room, so we were happy to change seats.

DJ uses the thermal paper type boarding pass.
Quickly through Secuity Control and whilst Mrs soak01 decided to check out some of the shopping outlets I had a wander around and look who I found:

SQ268 being operated by 9V-SRQ preparing for its return flight to Singapore.

Always a sucker for the golden goose. Anyway after dragging Mrs soak01 from the shops we headed to Gate 14.

Our aircraft had arrived from Melbourne and was being prepared for our flight to Hobart
Airline: Virgin Blue DJ698
A/C: Boeing 737-700 (with live 2 air)
Name: Sassy Sydney
Reg: VH-VBD
STD: 1340
STA: 1555
Seat: Economy Seat 12E & F

The majority of the DJ fleet (except Embraaer and Pacific Blue Aircraft) are now fitted with seat back satellite live tv and is available for $4.90 on flights of up to 2 hours and $9.90 for flights over 2 hours. It provides 24 live tv channels including news, sport, movies. The flight tracking channel is also available free of charge. You can tell that this aircraft is fitted with "live 2 air" by the hump on the top of the fuselage.
Now for the obligatory feet shot.

Certainly one of teh rows to go for if you can get it (or by paying the extra $30) as the seats in front do not recline with it being an emergency exit.
After leaving Adelaide on time and 32C temperature , flight was very smooth accept for final approach due to head wind and pouring rain. Flying time to Hobart was 1hr 40 minutes and stepped off the plane via the stairs (no aerobridges on Hobart) to a cold and wet 12C. Bags quickly brought to the terminal and we were on our way to Hobart CBD within 20minutes.
