Budget air travel maybe good or even better for short distance flight considering the costs n if one is travelling on EY. Like Tiger to KUL - one can pay a nominal sum to select a seat (usually closest to front Door 1L) and will be the 1st few to step off the plane at LCCT and its a very short walk to the terminal for immigration - unlike if one take SQ/MH and arrive at KLIA satellite terminal - one have to walk a distance from the gate to the airport train to go to the main terminal for immigration clearance and there's bound to be a queue - unless one runs to the immigration booth. And even for Tiger now - there's assigned seating on check-in so there's no "mad rush" to the gate. And for air asia KUL-SIN it arrives at T1 where its more conveinet for public transport ie buses, mrt than at the budget terminal. So far the flights have been on time and even have seen these budget flights ahead by 5 to 10 mins too. Best of all is the fairly low cost of abt $145 return nett which beats SQ/MH $395 nett - and altho no inflight service, one can stuill buy alot of snacks n drinks from the savings - whereas one gets only a cup of coffee/te or a small cup of juice on SQ/MH. But it all depends on the person - if its convenient peak flight schedules or company expenses etc then mainline still is more flexible. However for those who do not want to pay exhorbitant fares - then budget is still ok.
