A Merry Christmas and a Happy and Prosperous New Year to everyone, from a very cold North West of England, which I am about to sample as I am off to the pub to see the people you only see at this time of year as they make their way back from the four corners for Christmas. I suppose the only consolation of this crazy cold snap that has hit the UK this week is it is still white everywhere, which is rather 'Christmasy'.

A special mention to a very good friend for whom this year has brought great sadness instead. Thoughts with you and your family Sir!.
