Good concept, poorly executed,...or perhaps I should say strategically well executed, as for Apple themselves there is a crystal clear upgrade path and millions of blind devotees who will be guaranteed to queue up and buy the next best thing. iPad -> iPad+ -> iPad s+ -> etc. I wouldn't be at all surprised if, like flash memory IIRC, all of the "improved" functionality/capacity is already onboard but permanently disabled - this would significantly reduce tooling costs for the "new" version that will appear in a few months time.
