  • Superjumbo is super economical

    http://www.airliners.net/aviation-fo....main/4464602/

According to SQ the A380 Superjumbo is 21% cheaper per seat to operate than the Boeing 77W. Also in absolute operating costs the Superjumbo is 3% cheaper to operate than the 77W!

    Mighty impressive!

That's not the original assertion. The assertion is that it costs 3% less to operate 7x weekly WhaleJets to CDG than 10x weekly 777-300ERs. Operating one WhaleJet to CDG costs 39% more than operating one 777-300ER (10/7)/103%. That's still impressive considering that the WhaleJet's cabin floor area is 67% larger than that of the 777-300ER (552.5 vs 330.4 sq meters). As configured by SQ, the WhaleJet has 69% more seats than the 777-300ER.

Ok fine. Now what about Capex and financing cost/depreciation of an A380 vs. a 77W? Can anyone shed some light on this?

Presumably operating cost efficiencies would either be enhanced or mitigated depending on these factors.

I like to know the fuel price used for this comparison. $80 JetA vs $150 JetA will give you different numbers.

2nd question. Where's the data source coming from?
