I have like a ton of TV shows on my pc ... like OC California, some Heroes and stuff and I bet that this might not be all to appreciated. I just don't want to get into any sort of trouble or so ... and being okay in my country doesn't mean it's okay in another
Don't think it will pose any problem. They are more interested if you have questionable material on your hdd.
IIRC, you are on a MBP right?
Use Disk Utility and create encrypted disk images which won't mount if you don't use the correct password. The files are encrypted and won't show when they try to do a search.
well... according to ... well, not austrian law, i might not have been a good boy. i download my music and tv shows off the internet without paying for it from a download portal where i do not have to upload... so when entering the US, they might see it differently as piracy is taken rather seriously and i did not obtain my data through an original reseller or so. this is why i wonder
you have nothing to worry about.
Should (and again the keyword is should) they fire up your computer...they are not looking for illegal software or tv shows or music...really what they are looking for are:
as long as you dont have any of the above mentioned you are fine.
Cell phones, the may have you turn it on (if you have one), and ask you to make a call or something to that effect (ie establish communication)...but again it's nothing
You're under the assumption that US Customs is THAT IT literate!
Oh man!! IT literate, i would accept even if they knew where Canada was. Hahaha, last year when I flew back into EWR from SIN, now that we fill out the same immigration forms like you (ie the blue form and not the white one)...as such when I got to the EWR immigration area, where they split people off one said Americans and a picture of the blue form, and other people and a picture of the white form. I asked the person which line do i go into as I am Canadian but I fill in the blue form...after about 5 minutes of explaining to her where Canada is and that I don't need a visa to get into the States (for everyday trips that is), i was finally put in the US lane...but man oh man...that was a fun 5 minutes lol
okay, gotta clear my "random picture" folder for any sensible material one could acquire on random visits to sites also famous for depicting lolcats, caturdays and the like
i will just buy a 16gig sd card in singapore and put all my stuff on there, encrypted. easy.
another thing about firing up the cell and making a call: they do know this actually costs money, do they? in my case, roaming isn't all too cheap :/

Don't forget that deleting your files does not mean that the US immigration, customs, FBI, CIA and other entities too secret to mention can't recover them. For the level of comfort which you seem to require and after first deleting your files, have a look at the 35-pass erase option in Mac OS X's "disk utility" to scrub until it hurts the free space on your hard disk:
