Usually it is colder after it has snowed rather than during the snowfall, right?

Not necesarrily. Either it gets colder and the snow stays or it gets warmer and the snow melts

Indeed...... i still have an uncle living in Ellon and a friend from school who is now a teacher living further out in the country near Alford so i still get to hear about them getting snowed in and cut off for days on end so from this point of view, snow is not so good.

We lived a bit further south, at the beach so snow was less of a problem but our town would be isolated still a few days a year, and for me that was enough.

Given I have a couple of upcoming transits through LHR where even 2 flakes or a few drops of rain is enough to cause chaos, I would say foe.

But as someone who never sees snow at home (because it has never snowed where I live now), snow is a novelty and I'm often disappointed in northern hemisphere winter travels when I always seem to miss the snow*. Toronto - no snow and none on the ground. Helsinki - 20C instead of freezing! St Petersburg - some snow on ground but clear freezing days. Etc.

*open to sponsorship to visit and chase the snow away

Look who is roaming around at the YVR snow on Monday.

For the first time in ten years, Zeebrugge in Belgum has -6 degrees celcius.....

Its not so much of the snow, it more of the ice that is foe now...
