  • Accross the Universe

I know it's way OT, but hope this will give a history lesson to the youngster SQTalkers.
Went to see the movie Across the Universe starring Evan Rachel Wood, Jim Sturgess, Joe Anderson. It's directed by Julie Taynor (remember The Lion King the musical.) If you love Beatles, you will listen to more than 30 songs. But the most important thing, is how the music and lyrics relating to the story of 1960s. I was born in that decade. I did not know about the movement, Vietnam War, and other relevant history until I went to my grad school, and later on had a history professor in San Francisco who taught me a lot about WW 1, WW II and about the 1960s.
The movie let me thinking how fortunate we are to live in this decade. How the world had evolved. How my life has been changing constantly.
Of course, if you don't care much about the struggle in the past nor the history, enjoy the music from the movie. Yeah, Bono sang couple of the songs. And Jim Sturgess is a good looking lad. And I wonder whether 6 months from now, SQ will have it on KrisWorld.

    All you need is love

It's gotten mixed reviews, but I am looking forward to seeing it too. I really like the Beatles. I didn't live through the 60s but it was a time of momentous change--probably the most revolutionary decade in the 2nd half of the 20th century, at least in the West. Wish I could have experienced some of it.

Will it get shown in Germany too? Possibly like Donnie Darko, three years after the release on a terrible tv-station at 1am
