  • RIP Mr. Cheng

I am so sadden by this news of a Ferrari crashing into a Singapore cabby driver, what's worst is that he was the sole bread winner for his family and three kids may have their future dimmed because of the reckless Ferrari driver, whom himself persihed in the accident, also killed is a Japanese tourist riding in the taxi.

If you want to speed, please do it elsewhere and not on Singapore roads....

    RIP Mr. Cheng.

Couldn't get myself to watch the video..

I think you're right kapitan, not only did the driver take the cabby's life, but also ruined his children's future.. Very sad indeed. It's times like this when I'm all for capital punishment.

It pissed me off how mainstream newspapers paint the F-driver as some glorified finance guy who's life has been wasted.

Yet nothing mentioned on the death of the cabby and tourist. Weren't their lives not wasted too?

Having said that, its heartening to know many are pitching in to help the cabby's family financially.

I think anyone who wants to drive a high performance car needs to take a special driving test.

Bikers take 3 tests: up to 200cc, 400cc, above 400cc

Overseas visitors should be restricted to more modest cars.

Till they get used to local driving conditions

I thought it was the other way around? At least that's the way everyone in my office has been mentioning this incident...

Looking at the video, no amount of testing can stop reckless driving!

My father always taught me to look before you go ( drive off / cross the street ) even if green is in your favour.

His advice has saved me on more than a few occasions

No point being right.... but dead

I don't know about the local papers, but on various local forums, posters were definitely on the side of the late cabby and his family.

The big wave of fury pertaining to the Chinese scholar at NTU just subsided not too long ago, and now the locals are given another reason to blast Chinese expats/workers/immigrants again.

The driver made no attempt to stop. EIGHT seconds after the lights turned red and he was still trying to beat it.

Yes, indeed it is very tragic for all concerned, including the family of the Ferrari driver.

Some of those whom I've spoken to, say that this tragedy may be a symptom of how Chinese drivers drive back home. There is some truth in that, but I think the contributing factor were probably diminished judgement due to alcohol, lack of rest and/or the feeling of invincibility of driving a super-car.

Poor cab driver and Japanese tourist.

That reckless driver should have driven into some lamp post and killed himself only. But to take the lives of other innocent people along with him too...

9V-JKL is right. I had a quick look through the article on-line the other day and the chinese papers were certainly reporting trash!

Another moron at the same junction, trying to beat the lights this morning at 3.15am.

A local driver this time though, and I wonder if all those spouting vile previously will now see enough sense to pull their necks in and look at the big picture.

A friend of mine has said there's now been something like 6 accidents at that junction just in the last few months so whilst driving is a big part of it, road layout and design here also plays a significant part as well.
