  • Are there any flights to Laos from Changi ?.

Title says it all. I thought MI flew there but I must have dreamt that as it seems they don't.

I have checked Tiger, Jetstar and AirAsia but none of them do. I am looking at Luang Prabang but I can't find any to Vientiane either. Surely someone flies there from a hub like Changi ?.

There are no flights from SIN to either LPQ or VTE. You need to go to BKK and then either Bangkok Airways (PG) or Lao Airlines (QV) to LPQ; or QV to VTE.

TG also fly to VTE. Other possibilities via REP or KUL (Air Asia).

        Hi JHM,

I'm just curious and interested to know where to find the aboved flight details?

        Thanks

Yeah I know you can get to both from BKK, I was just very surprised that there are no flights at all from Changi. Maybe Suvarnabhumi is the pre-eminent hub in S.E. Asia after all.

Well probably that should be IndoChina (not SE Asia). Most of the flight to IndoChina has to be enroute in BKK. As BKK is the closest "big" city to these countries.

You can get the above details from various sources, e.g. KVS, ExpertFlyer or a GDS (Sabre in the above case). In terms of ease of use, they all have pros and cons, e.g. the GDS is fast if you have it open (e.g. type "13FEBSINLPQ <return>" to get the flights from SIN to LPQ on 3 Feb) but you need special software under Windows; KVS is a Windows program; ExpertFlyer can be accessed through any web browser but requires a few mouse clicks to get the same results; etc.

No, you weren't dreaming - MI flew to VTE in the late 90s and perhaps early 00s. Other than the connection options other posters mentioned, you can get there (LPQ or VTE) via SGN and HAN too. Did a trip in November; flew into VTE from KUL in AK and out of LPQ to BKK on PG (which was cheaper than QV). I did wonder when I was in Laos whether MI could sustain a route to VTE and/or LPQ.

Thanks for confirming I am not going mad, yet.

As I said above, I am very surprised nobody flies from Changi to Laos.
