AVSEC rules states that passengers are allowed to stay in transit areas for maximum of 48 hours...

so long as u do not buy duty free liquours....have the intention to fly out is ok...u are nt gg to the airside to create nuisance...

even if the customs want to check your bags...let them check...u got nothing to hide...

I had a similar experience albeit on CX. from hkg-sin-xxx. it all boils down to the airline. You have to remember that its not the airport that decides if you can board the plane or give you a BP. its the airline.

you shouldn't be frightened by some cisco/airport police if you know you are not doing anything wrong.

For SQ it is wrong, I ask SQ, they told me to check with Singapore Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA), they wouldn't want to comment.

I check with Changi Airport, this is their reply : -

"We seek your understanding that due to security reasons, passengers with a valid boarding pass will only be allowed one entry into the restricted area (transit hall). As such, we are sorry that you will not be able exit and re enter into transit. "

How are they going to know how many times has the person entered the restricted area with the same boarding pass? I don't see them marking the boarding pass whenever I entered the restricted area with my boarding pass.

Even if they decide to mark boarding passes, I am sure there are ways to get round this.

Rules are just things stated on a piece of paper. What happened in reality may not follow what's on paper.

Oh man! do I look like some law- or rule-breaker?

Since you seem so eager to flout the things stated on paper, why don't you test how they enforce this and report back to us?

The posts by jhm, SQfg, TerryK , and feb01mel strike me as the better advice for OP.

Haha slacker, you should try it , in fact a few people have tried it, just they were lucky they did not get caught. But think if you were being questioned/remanded, is it worth all the questioning, time wasting & inconvenience ? And with all the terrorism fears going on lately, security is an issue as well.

well, i m sure tat nobody in the right mind will want to risk the consequences of testing the system. no point taking risk w no rewards mah, esp for one who can always enter n exit the transit area?

anyway, wat i said are just in jest only, do not take it too seriously. i'm not gonna b responsible for any consequences

but then, i felt that if there r genuine reasons (for e.g forgetting to check in certain stuff that will be confiscated at the gate security checks), the traveler should go ahead to exit the restricted area and re-enter again. i think that as long as the reason is valid and justified, there shouldn't b much problem especially for SIN's residents.

AFAIK you need an CAG/CAAS issed airport pass with "A" rights to enter the Restricted Apron area. A boarding pass is NOT good enough. Bear in mind that pax in the transit area have not been security cleared so will not be allowed into the apron area (all persons going to the airside apron are screened).

Yup, and to know whether the person has access to the Baggage Sorting Area, one can look at the colour of the photo background shown on the Airport Pass.

We are not talking about apron access here, but more of entering and exiting and entering the transit area using a boarding pass?

[Typing this from the transit area, and saw a A380 landed at 02L at around 0700am]

                      Ah.
OK I misunderstodd the topic. Sorry.

I don't think the automated access tracks if you have gone in and out and with which boarding pass. The officer only checks that the person entering has a corresponding boarding pass....
