Is the Singapore Casino worth it?

I'm planning to drop by Singapore in two weeks.

Is the Casino worth a visit? I've been to Las Vegas and Macau.

Has anyone been to it?

Well all depends on what you expect, its nothing like a major glitzy casino in Las Vagas etc but it makes for a different night out. So long as your expectations are set then its fine, alcohol is still expensive and no free food so it fails on that point if you ask me but then I think they are going after different clientèle to the other one that will open soon.

Free food is available only at the Maxim Club upstairs at Resorts World Sentosa.

On 27th Apr, the second casino, Marina Bay Sands, will have a soft opening.

I went to have a look when I was in SIN a couple of weeks ago. I walked around had a little gamble, lost all my money and left. I doubt whether I would bother going all the way out to sentosa again for it. I like Vegas and go there fairly regularly but I need the variety that Vegas offers, if it was just one casino I doubt that I would bother going there either.

I paid my $100 dues. Its boring, its too crowded, or should I say, they closed off too many sections, and there isn't much for me to play. I ended up winning my $100 back and left the place.

And the entry permit is really a chore. End up I was stuck at the exit (yes Exit!!!) for 20 minutes while they try to establish my entry was legal.

I'll have a wander over to MBS when I'm next in town and it's fully open, but I can't be ar*ed going to Sentosa just to go to a Casino.

I think it's slightly odd that the Singapore government make citizens (and PRs?) pay for the joy of entering - and it's for only 24 hours someone told me .. surely this can't be true?!?!

Good on the government I guess ... they let all the jolly foreigners get burnt at the casino and don't suffer any of the negative costs once they leave...

Anyway - appealing to the gambler in me I will certainly be giving them my hard earned cash in November... firstly I'm off to Vegas at the end of the month...

Yes, S$100 you have to pay for entering for Singaporeans/PRs only for a period of 24 hours, the government is protecting our citizens from problem gambling, as this cannot totally prevent it, at least it is a barrier and this stops people from entering.

There is also a voluntary limit procedure where you can limit how much $ you want to bring in and put the rest of the $ in a locker.

In South Korea, Koreans are banned from entering their casinos.

I went over the weekend. Too many people. And to say the truth at least 70-80% were Local Singaporians!

I didn't play. $50 min most tables start at $100....not my style to dump so much money in the begining for fun.

Forgot my camera to take pictures of Universal....it was worth $3 for the monorail only...hahha

I just visited today and it was pretty empty, maybe because it was early afternoon of a work day.

It also seemed like they made all the Citizens and PRs use only the Orchid room, one smaller section of the entire floor...

ALSO...the smoking section is just as big as the NON-smoking section!

It was interesting to visit as a foreigner as it was free...BUT I would never PAY $100 just to enter! Definitely seemed like they were catering to the Chinese market!

I rather go back to Las Vegas or Macau. I still prefer Las Vegas to Macau.
