  • Terminal 3 Butterfly Garden fly away ??

I went to terminal 3 yesterday (departure/transit) and when I looked for the progress of the much advertised Butterfly Garden, all I saw was a sign "smoking area" !

Have they cancelled this project or will they train the butterfly's to become smokers ?

Yes, the Butterfly Garden plan is still going on. But contrary to what a Butterfly Garden SHOULD be, there will not be any live butterflies flying around. Instead, there will be specimens of butterflies around the smoking area. Notice how beautiful they chose name it yeah?
We put labels on people and fight wars over them. If we truly want harmony, we have to get past the labels.

      thanks

      so sad.
since I will be working there, it would have been nice to spend some of my break time there and relax, surrounded by beautiful living creatures.

will have to go for the Koi's instead

Actually, from what I've heard, it was originally meant to be a smoking room but they decided to make it into a "LIVE" butterfly garden (which I was SO looking forward to). The dude was telling me how they were going to transport the butterflies in their cocoons on branches or whatever not. I guess they must have gone back to needing that smoking room.

What happen? it's sad when they get rid of such a nice project to make way for a smoking room!

It's an outdoor smoking area in fact. Something like T2 Sunflower Garden and T1 Cactus Garden. Unless they are going to net the whole area, it wouldn't be possible to have a Butterfly Garden there.

So what is the status of the Butteryfly Garden?

Saw this on the official website:

Are the various gardens open 24 hours?

err.. I was in the Butterfly Garden last month (see my Trip Report), and it showed no sign of wanning.

But opposite the Butterfly Garden was a smoking room.

Did you guys perhaps get the two mixed up?

I wonder if it's worth pointing out that until the last posts, the most recent one was over two years ago...

As for the Butterfly Garden, it was there when I walked past it on Sunday night.

Thanks...I still haven't figured out when it is open... I'm planning to spend the night at Changi and would want to visit EARLY in the morning (like 6 am) which I've been told is when butterflies are most active...
