  • CX First Airline To Operate Out Of T4

Cathay Pacific’s passengers can also look forward to a new and exclusive premium lounge on the second mezzanine level of the new terminal. At more than 800 sqm, it is larger than the full-service carrier’s current lounge at Terminal 1, with views into the apron and runway, offering passengers in the lounge sightings of aircraft take-offs and landings.

Hang on, maybe they will finally get all of T3 instead?

Isn't T4 the new "budget" terminal? SQ would never move there. Surprised that CX is.

Yes am surprised that CX is going to move to the budget T4 terminal. However T4 have only 4 gates with aerobridges that can serve wide bodies only - and CX at certain times in the morning and afternoon have 2 planes at the gates at the same time currently at T1. that means there isnt much for other airline's widebodies ie esp Scoot which uses widebodies and believed they will be moving to T4 with Tiger air. Cebu Pacific do uses the A330 at times too.

T4 ain't budget. CAG is good at operating rojak terminals (premium + LCC). All terminals are like that.

There are currently no terminals in SIN that can fully accommodate the entire SQ operations. MAYBE T5 later.

Looks like the benefit of a larger lounge (and possibly a favourable lease since budget airlines don't exactly need lounge space) outweighed the costs of loss of brand image operating out of T4 and the loss of connectivity to other Oneworlds. Then again those really aren't huge costs.

I don't think SQ operate from 2 terminals is due to capacity. Think it is due to company's 2 vendor policy. T2 and T3 is handle by different "vendor".

What vendor are you referring to?

Care to enlighten? My impression was that SQ ground ops in SIN is handled by SATS and its consistent through the 2 terminals.

I wouldn't pay too much attention.

                            The ground services.
I know T1 and T3 is operate by the "SAD (SATS)" company. Not for T2.
Also, although T4 is going to build mainly on previous budget terminal location. It was never named as budget terminal to start with.

Brand image is subjective. No different from SIA start to run budget airline with different name.
