This promotion particularly suits my Fri-Sun weekend travel patterns, although points-wise, it'll take more time to redeem awards other than standard room redemptions.

Yes but I'd take weekend only redemptions with SPG - with their very easy redemption policies and availability pool, over GP - where I can never seem to get redemption availability at choice properties at short notice.

With the new ACTUAL enhancement to GP, they've now removed all capacity controls. If there's a room, you'll get it -- same as SPG. Passport Plus has been eliminated.

Oh I didn't know that. When did it come into effect? Is there still the 7-day advance booking requirement?

I last checked about 10+ days ago prior to my Tokyo trip. No GP points availability at PH or GH Tokyo, but there were paid rooms available. Then I slammed into the 7-day advance booking wall...

A newbie here with a question. If I those 2 nights at a cheaper SPG hotel, can I redeem it in a higher-rated hotel for the free nights? If that's possible, there'll be awesome.

April 2nd. Not sure about the 7-day advance thing. IIRC, I've booked rooms with points and FFN's the same day before...even swapping in points for a paid stay upon checkin. But maybe it's because I'm from Hyatt's home city of Chicago.

Still getting this :

But indeed for the dummy dates and bookings I tried, there does seem to be availability at all the properties.

Hmmm...I just tried this as well and got the same error message... Come to think of it, whenever I've needed to book using points, I'm only shooting for the PHT or PHParis...and in those cases, finding blocks of dates open is NOT an easy chore. Therefore, I call all my reservations in to Diamond Line. They handle it and it is via them that this "error" is probably bypassed.
