Recommendations for Madrid, Bilbao and San Sebastian?

Helllo all! I am planning a trip to Madrid, Bilbao and San Sebastian in March. I've not been to any of these places. Appreciate any recommendations on hotels, restaurants and places to visit.

Also, what's the best way to get from San Sebastian to Madrid? Plane or train? Or should I rent a car?
