  • Lemon Slices - Gone?

I used to have lemon slices from SQ, now it is COMPLETELY gone. I was told by doing that had saved SQ millions of dollars.

I do agree with treggie, those employees are now watching our threads, so we should hold back and keep some secrets within ourselves.....

Incorrect. Lemon slices are currently (and have always been) available on SQ flights,...perhaps you were unlucky and they had ran out on your particular flight(s)?

Lemon slices are still available on Silkair. How can SQ be worse off?

Yep lemon slices are still there.
What's gone are the other fruit garnishes they used in drinks on flights circa 1990s (in J & F).
I did remember reading it saved the company a lot of $$$.

nickbot didn't say that because it would be incorrect.

Can anyone (else) confirm that a lemon slice had been withheld from him or her (i.e., it was actually there, but cabin crew chose not to serve it upon request)? Or that he or she witnessed (i.e., as opposed to hallucinated) only 1-2 slices being loaded on a flight?

As StarG noted, all other cocktail garnishes were removed as part of the drive to cut costs, but lemon slices were not.

There's really no need to concern yourself about getting into an argument - j.lin's statement is incorrect, full stop.

Whilst your question is directed at jjpb3, I will answer if I may. In response to your "has never" question, my response is "yes", as in "yes, removal of lemon slices from service has not occurred", whereas a response to the "will never" query would require some crystal ball gazing and is beyond the scope of j.lin's original comment.

Whilst highly improbable, SQ could decide to, for want of an example, discontinue free alcohol service in Y as a cost cutting measure - such an action, whilst not necessarily making commercial sense, is well within their powers, so "yes", they could remove lemon slices,...but at present they have not yet decided to take that action.

I'm prepared to say the lemon slice-cost cutting measure has not occurred. As the present is the time period that is relevant to the discussion, whether it has ever occurred or will ever occur is just irrelevant.

I'm not disputing j.lin's experience, just questioning (as nickbot did) the extrapolation to a wider policy change. I'm also bemused by the eager agreement in a subsequent post, which brought in the bizarre notion of withholding or limiting the loaded lemon slices to one or two slices, and then (just for entertainment, I optimistically think) linked the imagined actions to the (alleged) business practices of some Singaporean companies. Putting aside the entertaining extrapolation in the latter section of that post, the core portion of the first statement -- that lemon slides are withheld or are loaded in quantities of one or two -- beggars belief.

Aw bless. You don't need to save my post really. They're easy to look back to and quote. Unlike one particular poster, I don't go on a post deletion frenzy when others disagree with my arguments.

Make sure you also mention that you equated cost-cutting (which the practices like cutting serving sizes while charging the same price, legitimately are) with

And of course, the point you made about lemon slices being withheld or loaded one or two pieces per flight on SQ.

I would propose using orange slices instead. Or let's make a suggestion instead to ask them to use limes as calamansi slices are smaller.

The conspiracy theories we get here are worth their weight in gold.

Rumbled. I can't hide it any longer, I'm SQ's head lemon slicer and have an axe to grind as my job may be in peril
