SQ800 F gone? Totally? Boy, am I glad I didn't book it a few days back then... it'd be lots of hassle with the redemption call centre... so this means I will have retrofitted 772 J for Sept, well bring it on... less chance for TPR DOs, however!

I'm talking about a passenger holding a issued First Class saver award ticket which has 6 months validity and has the intention to change the date of travel, in which he has the right to change the date of travel so long as its before the expiry of the ticket. However, for the new date, there is a flight disruption and it does not offer any First Class saver seats, only First Class standard awards are available. If on the new date, there are First Class standard award seats available, Krisflyer should locate the passenger on that flight, because of the fact that in the event of a flight disruption, passengers travelling on award tickets will be re-routed as per the rules applicable for fare-paying passengers.

8. Travel on KrisFlyer award tickets is subject to capacity controls. This may limit the number of seats available for free travel on particular flights. Award seats may not be available on all flights or in all classes. In addition, some partners may impose blackout periods when award redemption is not permitted.

11. A free award ticket may be reissued, but only for travel by the same person and provided no part of the award ticket has been utilised. Additional KrisFlyer miles may be applicable. If the new journey requires fewer KrisFlyer miles, the excess cannot be refunded. The award ticket at the point of reissue must still be valid. There will be a reissue fee for each ticket. The reissued ticket must have the same expiry date as the original ticket and it must be for the same airline. However, if the date of the first flight on the reissued ticket is earlier than that of the original ticket, then the expiry date of the reissued ticket will be readjusted to the earlier date accordingly.

Clearly, you are talking more about a flight disruption (SQ's fault) and not a passenger being unable to fly on their pre-booked Saver date being able to change to a date with only Standard/Full awards available 6 months into the future. Just thought we should make that very clear.

Passengers holding award tickets have the right to change their award tickets on SIA & SilkAir free provided the next travel date is within 6 months from the date of first travel. If the ticket's first date of travel is 27/4/2010, the ticket is valid till 27/10/2010 and we can change the date online or call Krisflyer up to change, provided there are seats available.

Hence, for the new travel date, if SIA change the aircraft and end up there are no First Class saver awards, its is considered flight disruption and they have to locate us with another First Class flight (if any) regardless of whether the new flight offers First Class saver or not.

Which is it? And where are you getting this 6-months 'policy' from. I urge you to please provide some solid evidence and not confuse two separate scenarios.

In general, if you are booked on a First Class saver award and your ticket is valid for 6 months, you can change to any date you want free of charge, provided there are First Class seats available, regardless of the flight has only Standard or Saver awards.

For example, say you are booked on First Class saver on SQ800, SIN-PEK, on 27/4/2010, the last day of the 3 Class aircraft and you cannot travel. You intend to travel on say on 27/10/2010, which is within 6 months of the ticket validity, KrisFlyer should honour the ticket and put you on SQ802, a B777-300ER with only First Class standard awards, without incurring additional mileage or charges. They should cancel the initial ticket and reissue a new First Class standard award ticket for the new date.

AWARD REDEMPTION, clause 14 states: In the event of a flight disruption, passengers travelling on award tickets will be re-routed as per the rules applicable for fare-paying passengers. Fare-paying passengers on First Class are allowed to change their date of travel on the same class provided there are other First Class flights and seats available on their next preferred date of travel.

In addition, under the GENERAL CONDITIONS OF CARRIAGE FOR PASSENGERS AND BAGGAGE, http://www.singaporeair.com/saa/en_U...l/carriage.jsp, ARTICLE 10. SCHEDULES, CANCELLATION OF FLIGHTS, Para. 2. Cancellation, Changes of Schedule, etc.
(a) If Carrier cancels, terminates, diverts, postpones or delays a flight, substitutes a different type of aircraft or different class of service, is unable to provide previously confirmed space, fails to stop at a passenger’s stopover or destination point, or causes the passenger to miss a connecting flight on which he holds a reservation, Carrier shall, with due consideration to the passenger’s reasonable interests, either:
1. carry the passenger on another of its scheduled passenger services on which space is available; or
2. re-route the passenger to the destination indicated on the ticket or applicable portion thereof by its own scheduled services or the scheduled services of another carrier, or by means of surface transportation. If the sum of the fare, excess baggage charge and any applicable service charge for the revised routing is higher than the refund value of the ticket or applicable portion thereof, Carrier shall require no additional fare or charge from the passenger, and shall refund the difference if the fare and charges for the revised routing are lower;

In a nutshell, so long as your First Class saver award ticket is within the 6 months validity period, you can change the date free of charge to the same class of travel, provided there are First Class flights available, regardless of whether the flight has Saver or Standard awards because of the fact that in the event of a flight disruption, passengers travelling on award tickets will be re-routed as per the rules applicable for fare-paying passengers.

This is nothing new, it happened when SYD-SIN, SIN-ZRH went whale. Those on saver awards got a nice upgrade.

oh no..KrisFlyer has updated the schedule...now no more First Class Saver redemption for SQ866, SQ870 to Hong Kong and SQ800 & SQ810 (B777-200 3 class) to Beijing for Dec 2010...only dates close like May 2010 remain...they act real fast...On these flights, only Business Class is available..

Last SQ866 3 class flight on 30/10/2010. Last SQ870 3 Class flight on 28/5/2010..

Last SQ800 3 class flight on 27/4/2010. Last SQ810 3 Class flight on 17/4/2010..

oh no...krisflyer just change the last SQ866 3 class flight to 28/06/2010. This morning I check was still 30/10/2010...at 2.30pm..they change to 28/6/2010..its like playing stocks...

Took a gamble last night and booked a J ticket for Sept despite my previous statement.

Decided to give J a try instead to test out the seat for mid-haul sleeping on SQ800 and see if it's better than F. Seatmaps for September haven't been changed to 77W though (just checked before posting)

hmmm.... they used to accommodate O class pax into R when they changed the aircraft into A380... (some people here have got that R class with O class mileages price.....)

So guys, wat are you waiting for?? a FREE upgrade to the NEW FIRST CLASS (B777-300ER) is waiting for you. Just book and issue a ticket for a far away date FIRST CLASS SAVER now on SQ866, SQ870 to Hong Kong and SQ800 & SQ810 (B777-200 3 class) to Beijing and you can get a upgrade to First Class on B777-300ER when SIA change the aircraft in the coming months!

Wonder if this would apply to awards ticketed by *A partners?
