Since there has not been any announcement of which routes will be upgauged when 9V-SKI and 9V-SKJ join the fleet (over the next six weeks or so), something has to change soon.

I read somewhere that SQ219/220 to SYD is having it's last 744 flight in early Oct. I didn't see anything for SQ227/228 to MEL yet, but the way things are going, a/c change can happen anytime soon.

October doesn't correlate with planned WhaleJet deliveries (9V-SKI should be in a week or two, 9V-SKJ should be late July or early August, and 9V-SKK should be January), so if SQ219/220's last JumboJet service will be in October, then it would then seem that it's due to be downgauged.

I still think MEL is a likely WhaleJet destination.

Yeah, in a post I read somewhere in this forum, it mentioned that in Oct 4/5, the replacement will be 773, not 77W, which made a lot of mbrs of this forum unhappy, but I think that announcement was almost 2 months ago. I don't know if any changes have been announced since. Nothing was mentioned about MEL, but I can see that as the next WhaleJet destination as well.

There was an article in the MEL Age news website on the SQ introduction service to CDG. At the end of the article there was a mention the airline says A380 will be introduced to MEL in the not to distant future. You can make your own assumption on the not too distant future as to when it is.

SQ238 MEL SIN yesterday was a 777. My experience has bee that this circa 10.00 am service was a 747 in the past. And it was chockers.

That rotation turns into a 744 during the peak travel periods.

The SQ arrival at about 4pm last thursday was a 777 when I seen it fly over my uni but thats normally a 777... is it only the friday-sunday service thats a 747?
