People flying to the US, UK, Spain and NZ can change their ticket to a later date or cancel it without having to pay a fee. This is for all tickets no matter if they are discounted or not.

However if you move your flight to a later date and there are no discounted tickets available on the flight you move to then you have to pay the fare difference between your discounted fare and the lowest fare available on the flight you want to move to.

Well, we have one confirmed case of H1N1 in HKG today. The guy flew from Mexico to HKG, with transit in PVG. The hotel (Metropark in Wanchai) was already quarantined (with 300 ppl inside under observation for 7 days). The authorities are currently contacting passengers on the MU flight yesterday to HKG and a couple of taxi drivers who drove the infected victim from airport-hotel and hotel-hospital.

The authorities here are definitely taking the approach of "better do more than be sorry later". They certainly have learnt from the SARS incident 6 years ago.

I'm sorry but I do not know any high street chemists in Singapore.

Since it's a phase 5 alert now, the supply of Tamiflu and Relenza is controlled very tightly and at present all supply is maintained by local Health protection units. Anyone who turns up at a high street chemist would be referred back to their doctor. The reason for the tight control is to monitor all patients to identify new cases, spread and geographical occurence.

This is the current status in the UK. I believe Singapore would be working on similar guidelines.

So kiasus and hoarders like kyo+ and HUGE AL might have problems getting any supply from the friendly doctors and hot pharmacists.

Anyone who does NOT hold a Singapore passport may get any prescription-only medication without a prescription at the airport phamarcies (after passoprt control).

But I don't know about Tamiflu though. It may a restricted supply.

I managed to get some steriod nasal spray at the airport pharmacy that is usually prescription only. If you have a prescription, and is Singaporean, they will fill it up for you. If you're not, just show your passport, sign on the dotted line and you have your prescription medication without a prescription.

I've taken Relenza before. It's ok.. but will definitely check with my doctor in Singapore if he can get some and pass to my friend who's coming to London at the end of the month.

I don't know about Singapore but the "controls" vary by country. For example in NZ general public are now allowed to buy tamiflu over the counter at chemists, but the pharmacist is supposed to only release to those already with flu symptoms.

I've always wondered if the abbreviation KF stood for, not just KrisFlyer, but also KiasuFlyer. I mean, what could be more Singaporean than kiasu?

In other words, I would afraid this outbreak after the SARS effect. Friend of my wife, who stay in Toronto, the whole family pay a visit of their son (due to his leg injury) in one of the hospital, after they went back home, the wife got infected by SARS, but not her husband & her son, later on she died & had to cremate right away within hours of certify of the death, without her husband & her son can take a last look of her, plus without other relatives & friends can even held a funeral gathering.

Yup, if that happens to me, so be it. No point living in fear. I also lost some friends in SARS. No different from you....
