Laptop Power on 747 in F

Just a quick Q, I can't find any info on the SQ website... does the 747 F seat have laptop power, and if so what type of adaptor is needed?

Yes, 110V AC power if I recall correctly.

EMPOWER™ 110Volt AC In-Seat Power Supply Socket is installed on their 747 (F/J) and newer aircrafts. The socket supports US type standard plugs. Otherwise, ask the FA for a universal adaptor.

In accordance with FAA requirement, ac power supply outlets are configured to limit electrical power drawn from laptops up to 75W. This limitation is applicable to both the AC and DC.

Sorry dear, sometimes the crew could not find one. To be safe, bring your own universal adaptor, especially when you travel all over the world. Or else, you can buy it from KrisShop, if it's available.

I am using Mac, and I can plug in directly to the power supply on 744. For UK plug, I believe you will need the adaptor.
I see one in KrisShop called ZERO GLOBAL ADAPTOR PLUG for SGD30.

Don't you have power adapter for MacBook and use it onboard?
IIRC, if one has MacBook Pro, the regular power supply wouldn't work as it draws 85 watts of power.

Power Adapter in 747 First

Folks - does the cabin crew provide the 15V DC to AC convertor or do we have to purchase this beforehand.

I'm pretty sure most of the SkySuite power points are 110v AC now, with no DC converter needed. You just plug a US/European style plug straight into the plug.

I thought so too and most airlines offer the 110V AC outlet (except the old UNITED biz-class). However, the web-site still says an adapter is required for the 747.

I tried to use it for my lappie with my world power plug adaptor (Smart Travel brand), and it didn't work, not sure why, actually.

I must admit I'm rather fuzzy on the whole voltage thing... I just plug it in and hope it works.

Well, my last flight on 747 F was the normal sockets, so the website is at least partly wrong...

I would agree with stargold. Everytime i have flown SQ 747 F, I've always been able to use my regular laptop plug and never needed a converter or additional adapter. You should be good.
