suites on SQ

i was just wondering about how well the suites are going after a year of flying? Are they oftern full or with a couple of people?

Also with the flights between Sinapore and New York with a all business class plane, does it go out full? or is it one of those half full all the time flights?

The report is rather mixed on the suites. I have one IFS telling me that is way below expectations and another CSS telling the load is good. As far as I can see on seat counter website, I see that suite seats are easily available. I inclined to believe the load is below compared to typical FC seats but again this is just a guess.

Don't think SQ will change their policy on pricing any time soon. The October pricing ex-Sin is still the same for the destinations I am heading. Heard from other FFs that pricing have gone up in other cities.

Liked what Singapore_Air mentioned before we have the option of taking the competitors, which are not so bad these days.

I think SQ would reconfigure the cabins before they would lower prices.

Good point. SQ were certainly hoping for a halo effect, but I don't think they were hoping the Suites would be a loss leader.

True, you certainly don't plan for it to make a loss, but I think they might have expectations internally that are somewhat different from us armchair fans.

I certainly don't think a complete withdrawal of the service is on the cards, low loads notwithstanding. There's a whole lot more gained elsewhere than a few empty suites flying around

I would be surprised if there were any plans to strip the Suites out of 9V-SKA through 9V-SKJ. However, I would also be surprised if 2-cabin configurations and configurations including F from the 777-300ER are not being considered for 9V-SKK through 9V-SKS.

That said, it's not obvious what seats (other than Y) would fit where the Suites are now.

Considered the price that they sell. Half full is good enough for that....

Although Suites may not be full, the load factor may surprise you given there are passengers willing to pay the premium. SIA is doing not too bad.

The business class is a big seller. It is always running a high load.

I am just thinking of one first class suite ticket is almost equivalent to two thousand SQ stocks. I am starting to equate SQ premium class ticket to number of SQ stocks I can buy in today's depressed market. The pricing of suites is way out of my league.

However, I agreed with SQflyergirl that the suites are good in terms of image for the airlines. That is probably why SQ is so persistence in maintaining pricing and non-redemption. I am just wondering if SQ allows her staff to use the suites on business travel?

Other than higher ranking staff or when Y is full, SQ staff on business travel are not even allowed to travel in Biz. Traveling on SQ employee tickets? Sorry, only Y class allowed. SQ would rather let you be stranded at the airport if Y is full than to upgrade you or other pax to Biz even when Biz is empty (from a personal experience).

I don't think this is quite accurate.
Op ups (involuntary upgrades when the flights are overbooked) do happen on SQ from Y to Biz or from Biz to First. As far as I know, they would try to accommodate everyone on the flight before they will bump people off.
However, rumors said that no op ups to Suites are to be done on the A380 flights.
