I'm currently gold with Virgin Atlantic flying club, and for a few reasons I'm possibly looking for a change!
Having flown SQ a couple of times before (albeit only in Y) I have had only good experiences with them, and because I travel a lot to Melbourne, their routes are very suited to me.
I'm a bit of a sucker for the A380 too and being able to fly straight into Melbourne (from LHR) on that aircraft in the business lie flat seat is perfect for me.
My question is (and I guess this isn't the right place to ask for unbiased opinions
) but...what is it that makes SQ great? I've heard from other VS flyers that in comparison to that carrier, the service on SQ is "robotic". What do people think about this? Is the A380 (and other aircraft for that matter) business hard and soft product comparable to the upper class VS product?
Also, how easy is it to move up the levels of KrisFlyer (in comparison to other carriers), how easy is it to get points cabin upgrades (I've always found that extremely easy with VS) and is there any chance they would status match me from VS, or at least stick me on the second tier?
