  • Question on what type of A380; SIN->NYC route

I am planning to do SIN->FRA->JFK on the A380.

Can someone tell me what A380 they deploy for the SIN->FRA->JFK route? The all-upperdeck JCL or the partial JCL +EY upperdeck A380??

    Thanks in advance.

Remember the aircraft is always subject to change, but you should be fine since the older A380's are scheduled to fly this route.

MEL has been seeing the newer ones lately with all upper J although they are not scheduled !

Hope you enjoy this long, long flight Audio !

I have booked, SQ26 26 July with a one day stayover at Frankfurt. Return 10 Aug JFK to SIN.

Still having problem getting out of seat selection and to my horror, there are NO windows adjoining seats for 2 pax available except for a small section of middle seats in the centre column.

I have to go with the front row, no choice at all or is it the website? Pretty full flights despite booking some 2 -3 months ahead of time!!

Wait till about a week or a week and half before the flight.
Usually, there are a lot more seats available than what is released for online booking. They will fully open the seat map closer to the date of departure. If within that week, you still see all occupied, then the flight is indeed full. You may have to check daily to see if someone cancel or relocate his assigned seats.

But having said that, early May flight SQ26/25 had healthy loads. On my flights, I saw at least 80% full in J and Y in the 4 sectors I flew. Mine was a Friday and Sunday flights so may be they are more full than mid-week flights.

and this being a two sector flight, an occupied seat does not mean it is occupied throughout the SIN-JFK journey.

how did you manage to split up the JFK-SIN to JFK-FRA and then a stayover in FRA for a day then FRA-SIN?

I think you can do it via multi-city booking. JFK-FRA then FRA-SIN

The wife is fearful of the 20+ hour jorney so I break it up and have a stopover at Frankfurt for one night. The Hhonor points comes in handy.

She told me it is OK to do JFK -> SIN without a stop because she will be looking forward to going home, so it's not so bad.

I use the Multi-city Itinerary to insert the stopover at FRA for the outboaund sector. No stop is needed for the inbound sector.

                        Anyone been to Niagara Falls??

Would a 2-night stay be enough?? (Too long or just right??)

Any hotel with spectacular falls view to recommend?

Would it be too ambitious to drive from NYC to Buffalo and then onward to Boston??

I haven't done Niagara Falls - Boston by car, but have done 9 hour car rides on one day and you should be fine. Driving in the US is much, much more laid back than it is anywhere else. Just make sure to leave early and don't plan on doing anything after you reach Boston as you will be very tired indeed.

As a Canadian, I have to say you must go to the Canadian side to see Niagara Falls in its spectacular. You cannot see the majestic falls from the american side.

For hotels, stay at the Embassy Suites or Sheraton by the Falls and request for a falls view.

2 days is enough. Just join a tour that covers the falls, Maid of the Mist tour, and a cable car tour. Leave the car at the hotel.

But while you're at it, from Niagara Falls, drive to Toronto (Chinatown, CN Tower, etc) , and then to Montreal (speak some French, have some Montreal favourite foods like smoked meat and bagels) and then cross over to Boston from there. More to see and do than the american side !
