  • Lufthansa - Revamp of Existing 747's

    http://presse.lufthansa.com/en/news-...icle/1888.html

Interesting idea for first class, but since the First class cabin is upstairs maybe they had no choice..

From reading the link they are taking out the window seats, and having the current seat, then a fully flat bed beside that...

Interesting... They're really working very hard on improving their Hard Product!

With the A380s starting to come to the fleet, and the 747-8Is introduction next year, the 747-400s must be on the way out soon. I'm surprised they would invest the money now to improve the seats for maybe 2-3 years.

Whats important is that there is no additional charge for their F seats, as opposed to you know who's!

            Many thanks for posting this

Interesting to hear from IFS on recent flight that SQ experimented with upper deck First Class on 747-300 but it was not well received by PAXs.

I know I wouldn't like First in Upper Deck

Better... It's about time they ditched that tiny little screen.

Wow. You get one seat + one bed! Very cool.
Agree that the screen is not updated enough.

This looks like an even better proposition than their A380 in F.

Can't help but think the motivation for this came only after their A380 F launched, seems more like an afterthought to me (albeit a good one, and an attempt to try and keep pace with SQ's R / NH's F etc

Actually, there was talk about this well before LH's A380 launch. I believe we even have a thread about it some place...like from a year or so ago...

Other pictures of the new F in the 744, the more I see the pictures the more it appeals to me, for sure the bed looks comfortable.

I wonder whether this F product will be available for general Star Alliance redemption, or will it be exclusive to LH senators etc. like with the A380 F?

I was thinking of taking a risk and making a redemption booking now and hope the routing will have one of the 10 retro-fitted planes.

What I want to know is how you can tell ahead of time whether or not you'll be getting this seat...

From April 22 only 8 seats will be sold in F fleet wide. This does not mean that all our 747 will have the 'bed" product; refurbishment will take a while (also Y-seats will be changed during this refurbishment) So this year it will be kind of roulette getting the refurbished 747.
