How's MH 777-200ER in Y?

I was searching for LAX-TPE flight yesterday and suddenly found out that MH (Malaysia Airlines) switched from 744 to 772 on this route! Maybe they switched it to 772 for a long time but I just didn't know that.

Have any one flied on MH 772 in Y before? How's the seat comfort, food and IFE. If it is good, maybe I'll try MH on LAX-TPE next time

MH's 772 and 747's Economy seats are the same (their latest, not so new Y). They have AVOD, which is rather decent, and seat comfort is about the same as SQ's old Y. Note the 772 config is 2-5-2, not 3-3-3. Food is so-so, nothing to shout about. The service is not as good as the Singapore Girls' though

Overall, MH isn't all that bad. Better than TG; probably not as good as SQ/

Travelled on MH a year ago on the KUL-LHR route. The seats (747 and 777) is very similar if not the same of those found on SQ (772, 772ER, 773, 747) with same-size AVOD and system.

I found the food to be surprisingly good (esp if you like malay food). Prob the not so good thing is the duty free and no paper menu given out (the menu is displayed on screen instead).

With a bargain that I got (around 50-75% of SQ price at the time), I could hardly find any fault and would definitely fly again with them.

The seats, even though are the old ones, are supposedly to have better pitch and recline than SQ. Will be flying on one in 2 wks, so will comment on it then.

MH 772's Y seat pitch is pretty generous at 34" and feels more legroom than SQ's. For the price of MH against SQ, it is true that one cant really fault MH - as for SQ one can still get the old 772s with the old style Y seats.

You do not get SQ's 772s for SIN-LHR, they are 77W and A388 only... (if you are responding to albert)

As a fat baster, I am very sensitive to the seating width. I found that the seating width in MH's 772's is better than SQ, not too much but significant to provide a better seating comfort to me

MH's 772's are SENSATIONAL in Y. Seat pitch is fantastic - and yes, better than SQ's.

The seat comfort is not bad actually. Wouldn't say it's fantastic. Last time I flew HKG-KUL on their 772, and the service was terrible. Given the fantastic price, I guess I can't complain much

Not if you're only travelling with one other partner. In which case, it's nice that way.

Actually I like 2-5-2 more, as I usually take the window seats, I need to climb over 1 person only in 2-5-2 config if I need to go out.

And for every row, only 1 person(middle one in 5) need to climb over 2 people in 2-5-2 but two people (both window seats) in 3-3-3.

PS: Those airlines with 2-4-3 can satisfy most traveler's preferences
