  • Glee. Oh dear.

So I spent a fun Thanksgiving with my friends in PHL. And they introduced me to Glee, a show that apparently is making waves in the US. For a taster of the schmaltz, the exuberant talent, and, I think, the appeal, see

    and

Now I'm definitely intrigued, and I fear, hooked. Anywhere else in the non-US world this might be taking root? (Oroit, I'll take comments from our esteemed US-based culture critics taipeiflyer and HUGE AL as well. )

The boyf and I are total Glee-devotees! Even bought the soundtrack. Love everything - the music, the unashamedly OTT cliches, parodies and the eye candy.

    edit: another v nice cover:

However my fave scenes are the spontaneous jam sessions/mash ups such as this one:

I loved that episode! Pity none of the mash ups are on the soundtrack.

I didn't think you'd be into pop-trashy shows but I thought I'd ask, just in case.

                From Episode 3:

"This is what we call a total disaster, ladies.

I'm going to ask you to smell your armpits.

That's the smell of failure, and it's stinking up my office.

I'm revoking your tanning priviliges for the rest of the season ..."

You can get trashier than that??? You astound me, and earn even more of my respect, HA. Word.

Ok I watched a couple of episodes last night and I'm not sure that I will be watching anymore. I can see that it could have a certain appeal but just not for me.
