  • Medication - Collective Thoughts?

Three years ago, I went to Malaysia and Singapore, armed with an exotic array of inhalers for asthma (Pulmicort, Serevent and Oxis), plus my own portable nebuliser equipped with vials of Ventolin.
I had a note from my GP, explaining this array of inhalable white powders and liquids.
Not once did I ever need to produce that note. No one batted an eyelid.

Now, my medication is far less severe and different anyway (Symbicort and Bricanyl, rarely used) and I wonder...
Do I really need to obtain a GP note again? Or will their original packaging and prescription stub be enough?

Also, Mosquitos. I know SQFG has mentioned and used a mozzi coil, but I'm more interested in applied repellents......recommendations?
I know DEET based is the way to go, but last time I used Jungle Formula 50% DEET and, frankly, I did not (nor my travelling companions) appreciate choking on the stench of it, nor the burning sensation upon application.
I know Malaria isn't a massive issue give my locations, but it's the whole biting thing and that Mozzies don't just carry malaria these days.......
If God had really intended men to fly, he'd make it easier to get to the airport.

In relation to bringing medicines into Singapore, I'd check (or ask your GP to check) the requirements here:

FAQs on Bringing Personal Medication into Singapore published by the Singapore Health Sciences Authority

Depending on what the medication is, you may need a permit etc.

Just let your doctor give you a certification that you need to carry this medicine with you. If you can't prove you need the meds there's always the risk that they won't let you board the plane.

From my experienc usually it should be enough if you obtain a letter from your doctor saying
"Mr./Mrs. XY needs to carry the following with him/her at any given time
      -item no1
      -med no2
      - ...

(it's great if you can persuade the doc to add water/ your favourite drink to that list- way to bypass the liquid restrictions )
