  • God Like treatment

    RANT ON
As always, I see that phrase being used over and over again. SQ never promises "god like treatment". IIRC,that phrase was coined by KeithMel in an article he wrote (Can't seem to locate it). ..and NO, I DON'T WORK FOR SQ.

    .....and breathe......

Compared to my usual Y class experience with carriers of far less standing than SQ........it wouldn't take a lot to offer "god like treatment".
Perhaps previous LCC experiences are what are being used for the benchmark and so SQ's, apparently, better standard of service (as I've yet to experience it, though my parents are trying it out in SQ Y in two weeks....) is what causes people to wax lyrical and get a bit carried away.

Much like an Apple fanboy becoming all, sweaty, priapic and tumescent over the so-called "JesusPhone".
If God had really intended men to fly, he'd make it easier to get to the airport.

The phrase "treated like a god" actually came from a ChannelNews Asia article (or perhaps SQ PR department spin) published just before SQ made known officially the PPS programme cutbacks.

Edit: the ChannelNews Asia link finally loaded. It says:

A source close to the airline said: "What the airline is trying to do is make it difficult to get into the scheme, but once you get in, you're treated like a god."

        Thanks for clarifying.

I believe that "article" (it was actually a Letter to the Editor) i wrote in Today was about the PPS changes last year. I do like to indulge in a bit of piss taking every now and again, and IMO that phrase, especially when used without any irony whatsoever in the context of PPS "enhancements", is pretty worthy of some ridicule.

It's our saviour. Jesus died because the people in Rome did not believe in him ... there is no margin for another failure of a messiah!

But honestly, not having been on SQ metal for 5 years now and flying other airlines, I really came to value how I've been treated on SQ before. To me, this certainly was god-like ... in comparison to other airlines. I'll see how much of it is still left in a few days anyway

The reporter was dyslexic. What the source really said was "dog".

Thanks for your clarification. As I was not that sure of my facts, I used 'IIRC'. So, I recalled wrongly.
