That's what I call a passion for speeding (unless you "lost" some houers due to the different timezones )

So in conclusion you'll be lucky to even get a movie on the flight.

I just did LAX-IAD a couple days ago on UA... they used their 757 for that but on the return trip, IAD-LAX, they used their international configured 777 so that was almost a joy... they had the tiny screens at the back of each seat but only had 2 movies and its not on demand... -_- and yes... the infamous $5 snackboxes!!

fastest i have ever flown the tpe-lax route is 10 hours 35 mins. unfortunately, we got bussed into the gate which ended up negating the time saved on the flight.
speaking of which, it's incredibly frustrating when sq docks at the remote terminals at lax and you get bussed into the gate. if you are sitting in first or business class, you enter the bus first, but then get squeezed into the very back meaning you exit the bus last. which also means you get up to the immigration queue last. i don't know why sq hasn't figured this out yet and figured out a respectable solution for their premium passengers.

i really don't see what the problem is with the $5 snackboxes. customers have been polled time and time again, and have made it clear that is how they prefer things on the domestic flights. customers would rather have dirt-cheap fares and no food service, than vice versa. don't see why UA and others keep getting knocked for this when they are trying to respond to the wishes of their passengers.

I agree completely. One just has to adjust to the requirements of a different aviation market, and bring an extra $5 onboard.

Besides, at the rate the US dollar is tanking, it isn't so bad for those of us who earn in another currency, is it?

While I have never enjoyed being nickeled and dimed, taipeiflyer is correct in that the American public has voiced numerous times that they prefer this. Why? I have no idea. Perhaps it lends another topic for them to b*tch about to their fellow passengers instead of the airlines themselves.

It's just that when you compare it with SQ, it does look a little ridiculous that they are serving something that is cold, not particularly tasty, charge $5 for it for a flight that is 5 hours long. SQ serves the little "hot pizza-like" food for free for a 55 minutes flight from SIN-PEN on top of that, free alcoholic beverages too!

Sorry for going a little OT but,

Accoring to my memory, and correct me if im wrong btw, LAX - TPE is around 14-ish hrs, so your flight made up 4 odd hours

                      Is that even possible?

that flight is only 14 hours on the lax-tpe leg. the tpe-lax leg is never more than 12 hours due to favorable winds. i once had a 10hr. 35 min tpe-lax journey, so i wouldn't say it is out of the realm of possibility that it could be done in 10 flat.

Yeah, TPE-LAX could be done in 10 hours, with a little bit of luck, but AndrewSQ011 said that his LAX-TPE flight took 10 hours, which I found to be odd, considering TPE-LAX takes 11-12 hours and LAX-TPE 14 hours.
