Where to stay in London?

Are you dumping Hilton as well or are you sticking with them despite the devaluation ?

I have burnt 70% of my HH points now prior to the devaluation and whilst burning those, I racked up more points from spend etc, and now I'm in the position to burn the last 30% + the points I've newly acquired (some were 15k+ earning nights)...

Frankly, I think I have enough travel to warrant maintaining HHD the hard way (HH Gold would be a cakewalk) and SPG Plat. Although I was very tempted to swing everything to re-do SPG50, 10 SNAs aren't sufficient for me to swing all my biz across to SPG. Even if they allowed Your24 for SPG50s, I'd still only be 85% tempted. HH's got some very good properties that I stay with by choice. I'm as much a fan of the WAs as KeithMEL is a fan of the Ws...

And in China, HH rules the roost as far as I'm concerned. Pity they aren't doing more in Vietnam.

I've had enough of Hilton now. In the last few years they've scrapped the DSA, messed aorund with redemption rates for certain rooms, increased the qualification threashold and then the last one where many properties doubled in redemption rates was the last straw for me.

It is also the only one of my three programmes that doesn't have Lifetime status like Hyatt and Starwood (although whether I ever make Hyatt Diamond lifetime is doubtful...) and also doesn't allow 4pm checkouts, which I find invaluable on business trips as it removes the worry about getting back in time from a morning meeting that may run late. And of course there is now no longer the opportunity to earn up to 3000 Diamond Club miles per stay.....

On reflection the only HH property I will miss is the Conrad in Singapore, but my two nights there last week was my first stay in a dozen or so visits to Singapore. That's gone from a half a dozen stays a year to zero.

I first heard of the Bentley when a girl from the Marriott Park Lane moved there a few years ago. We typically stay at the Marriott Park Lane in London due to easy access to Marble Arch tube (ironically, there is another Marriott Marble Arch which does not have access to Marble Arch tube) and Edgware Road.

Never been much of a HH person to begin with (our regular Hilton is the Sao Paulo Morumbi property where we have our favorite Hilton Journey Ambassador), we've recently rekindled a liking for the Hilton Hawaiian Village on O'ahu. We heard that the Grand Wailea is now also a Waldorf Astoria although it's been a few years since we stayed there on the valley isle.

I usually stay at the Hyatt Churchill in London these days, and the closest tube to that is Marble Arch.

If you're staying in Liverpool Street, you may as well be staying in Liverpool... Unless you're specifically there for City-only business, that is.

I didn't take any photos unfortunately! But I was surprised by the size of the room. Good size and comfortable bed. The lounge was ok, very nice hotel bar downstairs!

Staying there again next month, will take some photos. Rooms are very big by London standards, I like it due to its location near Convent Garden & Temple tube stations but most places are walkable.

I stay there as well, just not as much as the Hyatt. I was there in February actually. It depends on the rates at both properties, which can fluctuate wildly. Andaz is usually cheap at weekends.

I wouldn't say that. The Andaz is directly above Liverpool Street Station which has excellent Tube links to anywhere in the city. It would probably be quicker than the Hyatt to get to many places as at the Hyatt you have to walk to Marble Arch Tube, which then only has the Central Line as opposed to four different tube lines at Liverpool Street.

Fair enough. I'm being a little harsh. For me personally I get to most places by walking from the Churchill, whereas from the Andaz it's a lot of tubes and cabs.

Sounds very similar to Andaz Wall Street -- where BRG can come in handy almost 90% of the time.
