Is it normal to wait so long to clear waitlist?

I find it recently taking longer and longer time than usual with SQ to clear waitlist. Waitlist are pending for many months on end. And these are for paid fares, not savers or redemptions.

Is there something that can be done to clear waitlist faster? Or just have to follow the "system"
