  • VTL between SIN and India

    Greetings to all,

Most of you may or not be aware of the news. Due to India’s sharp drop in covid-19 cases (+/-) vaccinations, Singapore Airlines has also extended its vaccinated travel lane to India.

SIA plans to fly to the following cities with 1 daily flight only:

    Chennai (787)
    Bangalore (350)
    Mumbai (350)
    Delhi (787)
    Kolkata (737)
    Kochi (737)

Looks like all of these flights are evening flights only, which means unless you are coming from LAX, you would be having a super long layover in SIN, but coming back is convenient. I hope once demand picks up hopefully some of the major cities they can offer a morning flight too.

My dad may be planning to go in Feb but the long layover may not seem ideal while going to him alone, I may go mid 2022 and it would be okay with me.

    Here are some sources:

Also is it mandatory that all flights be VTL flights (i.e. SQ7 or SQ11 is a fifth freedom route via HKG or NRT, but not a VTL, but nonstop LAX and SFO flights are)? That is my slight confusion.
