  • Centralized security at T123?

    Just a thought I had.

We know AMS moved their security screening from the gates to common checkpoints, a while back, leaving SIN and KUL as the only major airports in the world to do security screening at the gates.

Especially with rising manpower costs and the like, would it make sense for Changi to do the same at T123? T4 is already doing it so they can gain some experience.

Don't think that's possible as major infrastructural modifications are required. Centralised screening requires arrival and departure passengera to be segrargated as soon as they leave the aircraft.

This means a separate floor each for both sets of pax throughout the airport. T1/2/3 buildings for the most part are only 2 storeys. 1st floor is used by bus gates and apron offices. Modifications would also be required for skytrain transfers as well, amongst others.
