  • Some paxes are complaining on SQ Facebook about the cancellation of SQ871. Frankly speaking, there is really nothing much SQ can do when the airport is closed. Further with 300 over paxes, the ground staffs will be unable to deal as well

Can’t even do rebooking when there is no confirmation of when airport will be reopen.

SQ865 12AUG has left HKG and airborne.
SQ872 12AUG will return to Singapore, no timing available / delayed.
SQ872 is estimated to depart CAN at 1930 and arrive SIN at 2335.

      • SQ868 | 12 Aug will depart at 04:00 on 13 Aug due to political unrest at HKG.

SQ2 | 12 Aug does not stop at Hong Kong.

        • Yeah of course the 77W should be able to make it direct to SFO. 77W can do pretty much what an A359 can, I believe.

Must be frustrating to set off, spend 8 hours on a joyride to Guangzhou and back to SIN without reaching destination. Wonder how pax will be compensated; waste of money for the airline.

I wonder whether SQ could have diverted SQ871 to Macau and arrange buses replace planes between Hong Kong and Macau.

Quangzhou is actually not too bad as its fairly near to HKG and now they even have the high speed railway that does CAN-HKG city is 45 mins and another slower rail that takes 1.50 hours, plus there's plenty of buses direct into HK and vv

The 77W should be abe to do a 15 hour flight and as it is during winter months SQ 1 from SFO to HKG using the 77W takes 16 hours, altho believed its without cargo. Currently direct SIN-SFO flights on the standard A350 takes just below 15 hours.

                • SQ2 has just left according to FR24 - but is still marked as SIN-HKG there.

FlightAware is still kind of muddled up too but their data expects a 3AM arrival in SFO as at time of my post.

FR24 have updated as “divert to SFO”’under the remarks.

But it seem like that the students are asking for gathering at 1pm at airport Tom. So things might change.

                            • I'd be quite interested to know how much fuel they landed with.

And on its way now to HKG as the 'normal' SQ1.
