In light of recent laptop bans plus the increasing allure of traveling light (I.e., without a laptop), I was reminded of SQ's promotion, around 2007, of their built in software capabilities. Further details:

I was curious, can anyone answer:
I love this idea, it reminds me of how convenient Google docs is (or at least when it doesn't force one to refresh the browser constantly). However, I noticed that SQ deemphasized this capability – for instance the software is mentioned at 0:38 in this promotional video:

Yet the same video posted at Singapore Airlines' official YouTube channel edits out the mention of the software!

KrisWorld can also be used as a PC and includes Sun Microsystems Inc.'s StarOffice application suite, which offers a word processor, spreadsheet, and a presentation program. Every seat is fitted with a USB (Universal Serial Bus) port that lets passengers access documents carried on a thumb drive or portable hard disk. The port can also be used to connect a USB keyboard or mouse, making it easier for business travellers to create and edit documents without having to dig out their laptops and power cords, Tong said.
Don't want to carry a keyboard with you? No problem. You can buy one on board the aircraft. Alternatively, the handsets installed in each seat that offered controls for the in-flight entertainment system on one side and a phone on the other, have been replaced with a model that offers user controls on one side a QWERTY keypad on the other.

- Have any of you used the word processing, presentation, or spreadsheet software?
- Was it easy to edit, access, and save those files onto a USB drive?
- Promotional videos and that article suggests that a USB keyboard can be attached, has anyone been able to successfully do this?
- Does the new generation of KrisWorld in the latest cabin product have the same features?
