    It was offered to me by the lobby staff as "champagne" and I didn't have the presence of mind to ask whether this was regular sparkling wine or the actual French product...

      Not "probably." It DEFINITELY is sparkling wine…and a bad one at that!

      I hate when businesses interchange the designations.

        I spent(/misspent) my youth thinking Parmesan cheese was that stuff sprinkled out of green Kraft canisters...
