Airport Taxi in Vietnam? (HAN and SGN)

Flying to both HAN and SGN. Are taxis from the airport to city (staying at the Nikko in both cities) safe and organized like the airport taxis in BKK and HKG?

Or am I better off taking the hotel transfer? (very expensive!)
