  • Shutters On The Beach

    The Entrance..

    View from the Lobby Entrance

Reception faces entrance. Lifts to room to the right of entrance. This is the view to the left.

Living room and, by the window, bar overlooking Santa Monica beach

Looking back at the entrance ( left ) and reception ( right ) from the bar

    Exterior Shots

What is not apparent in this picture is that the hotel is split into 2 parts: Main Hotel in front & Rooms behind..

.. divided by a road but linked at the swimming pool level by a bridge

3 levels of the main hotel:
    1. pool
    2. main lobby / bar / restaurant ONE PICO
    3. beach level / restaurant COAST

    The Bedroom

The Footprint: The pool lies in the middle & sun deck extends out the open end to the beach

From the balcony looking back at the entrance

I had a corner bedroom and this window...

    ... overlooks the pool

My room is the corner one. Deck chairs above lobby / bar

    The other window...

    ... overlooks the driveway entrance...

    .. the Pacific Ocean...

.. and Santa Monica Pier at 2 o'clock

    Bathroom

View of the Santa Monica Beach from the pool

    Conclusions

It's a nice hotel to stay if you don't enjoy the hustle and bustle of LA

It's also a easy drive to LAX which is important to me.

I like the ocean views and easy access to the beach and Santa Monica 3rd Street Promenade for shopping ( 10 min walk )

However, it is expensive for what you get.

You need to pay extra for internet access and parking. The tips to the car valet add up.

At weekends the lobby, pool and restaurants get really crowded. It's a popular weekend getaway for residents of Los Angeles

But I would stay there again when in LA

"Sighted" is one thing; she actually lives at Shutters when she's in LA.
