I doubt you'll see a huge rush. Somebody who flies enough to qualify for TPP - generally "bo gian"* (for lack of a better phrase) these things.

Thanks! SFO-SIN on SQ15. Flight was full in all classes. No mention of birthday on either sector, not that it bothered me. I know this is a first-world moan, but I've decided 1A on the 77W is not optimal due to flush noise. Not helping was the fact that the starboard head was OOS, so there was regular traffic on my side. Still this is a very welcome TPPS perk, but the fact that I've now had two in a row is not good in terms of work/life balance...

            Glad this is now happening.

I also wonder what should happen for pax already in F/R.
They should not miss out IMHO, having paid for a higher class of service.
oh they do nothing, no cake no card nothing. I flew last week to HK, one day after my birthday, and I was in F already, but after reading this thread, i am surprised that other people got a card, cake, etc. No one even mentioned a thing, and just normal service, in fact a little less than normal, as i think the flight was 8/8 in F, so I had to get up to go to the galley to ask for water, etc...

do not normally fly on or even close to my birthday but will be doing so with my family this year on the day after the actual date so will see if anything turns up - perhaps i should remind them?

Got a surprise cake and champers at the Silver Kris Lounge prior to departure of SQ222 from Sydney. Was already in F.
Special escort to the plane too.

                  Very nice gestures.

Aiyoh, that's the flight you should just have risked it and booked J. It would have worked unless F was full already. Ohh well, Happy belated Birthday nonetheless. Enjoy.

                        Hi there all,

Noticed that Singapore Airlines had in their reservations system indicated "Birthday Cake" in my booking reservation (30% EYCL SaverRedemption) for my flight on SQ1 SFO-HKG-SIN.

Am a qualified Year 2 PPS, and to-date, already achieved more than the S$25,000 requalification amount, before my April 2016 anniversary date. Would it be likely to receive a complimentary upgrade from EYCL (Redemption) to JCL as I fly SFO-HKG-SIN on my birthdate itself?

SQ380, I only received "birthday" upgrades when I got TPPS and only when I was on a fare ticket. Then again, I try not to travel around my birthday.

I think it was posted earlier on here already: the upgrade is only for Solitaire members (excluding partner cards) and works +/- one day of your birthday if availability is given.

If the check-in agent doesn't upgrade you, you can still ask politely if you fulfil the above criteria.

PPS don't even get birthday greetings anymore. Unless you (or someone else for you) orders a birthday cake, the crew doesn't know.

Am a supplementary card holder and received a birthday upgrade on SIN-BOM last year so YMMV - this could be due to a full Y cabin since the OP mentions that I am not eligible.

Darn.... Oh well thanks all for the insights. Frankly, Singapore Airlines system database is more than capable of having it flash out that a certain pax would be flying with them on their birthday. It makes sense then that the airline reach out and ask if any special arrangements would need to be catered for the special occasion. However, going by their flawed website which still remains a disaster, the much delayed CEM with Accenture, it figures that their system has no such capability....
