SilkAir to fly to 2 new destinations in October

SINGAPORE: SilkAir, the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, will fly to two new destinations from October.

The carrier said on Tuesday that scheduled passenger services to Bandung, Indonesia will begin on 11 October, while passenger services to Changsha, China will start on 31 October - the latter subject to regulatory approvals.

The Bandung flights will operate three times weekly on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays using Airbus A319 aircraft. This will increase to five times weekly during the northern winter season that takes effect from 30 October.

Changsha will be served by three weekly services on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays with Airbus A320 aircraft, said SilkAir.

It said Bandung and Changsha are the 37th and 38th destination respectively in SilkAir's network.

"Earlier this year, on 28 February, we started scheduled services to Pekanbaru, Indonesia and on 1 August Kolkata, India. This will be followed by Koh Samui on 27 September," said the airline's chief executive Marvin Tan.

"Asia looks set for further growth and SilkAir, as the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, is well placed to meet the rising demand for air travel in the region," he added.

SilkAir advised customers who are interested in the two new destinations to note that the cities may not be immediately available in the computer reservations system due to the lead-time required in making system updates.

OT but I realise that we don't have a Silk Air thread relating to the food it serves!
