Counting of Nights Stayed

I am naive on this subject of number of nights stayed. If I am to book two rooms at a hotel under my name and loyalty card number, is it considered as a single or double night stay?

99% of the time, it will only clock a single night.

To my knowledge and experience, night stay is based on 1 room because you can't physically split yourself to use the other rooms (that is what someone from the hotel told me). Because very often when I travel for business, I will make the reservation for my colleague who travels with me and bills into my account.

But for the points, it can be added into your account.
