As is the undoubtedly obvious answer - it depends how badly you need it!

For me, I'd wait... no urgency

Yeah. Nothing on the radar that beats it

I'm told by my camera geek friends that it is the only point & shoot with a f2 lens.

The next best P&S camera is f2.8.

Only it's cousin, the Leica D-Lux 4 is better. And that's a moot point.

Thinking of getting a camera but not in a rush and Sony seem to be my 'favourite' . Wonder how the E mount would be like?
I'm always willing to try other brand. Leica seem to be buying a Vertu but would love to get one but maybe when I'm retired

LX3 is almost 2-3 years now, still no news on the successor?

Care to share what color did you get? I heard the silver is difficult to find, is that true?

Black. Did not care for Silver.

Might just be my next upgrade, methinks... with that ultra-wide lens, perfect

Will be hard to say goodbye to the Ixus 980IS though

Features that will get me to change:
                              1. No need for lens cap
                              2. Slightly smaller ( to S90 size )
                              3. more zoom maybe, but not a dealbreaker
