  • GARUDA B738 in Retro Livery

To celebrate its 62 years on January 26, 2011, Garuda Indonesia is painting one of its aircraft with a retro livery that the airline was using in 1960's. Here are 2 pictures posted and shared in the local forum Indoflyer.net

Rumour has it that 2 more aircraft will be painted in a 1970's orange and red cheatline livery and will be introduced soon.

What do you think? I myself love all aircraft in retro livery. I wonder if SQ and MH would ever paint their aircraft with the original MSA livery.

It is very nice looking. Too much politics for a repaint of either MH or SQ into MSA colours :-(

It looks gorgeous! Just like it did in the 60s on the CV9 that flew JKT-PNH-CAN among other places

And oh yes, the 70s orange and red like on the D9S to HKG. They passed out these packets of wet towelettes, but instead of orange and red, it had a dark and light green cheatline along with a green logo on it!

I applaud GA for this effort. Well done!

As for MH, even if they have a plan to paint any of their new aircrafts with its liveries of the past, the one and only livery that won't be selected is the MSA livery simply because as mentioned by mr_botak, too much politic involves with it.

If anyone ever read The Adventure of Tintin, this is the same livery as the one on the "flight 714" comic book. The only difference is that it is the Convair that dons this color and not the B737.

I'd give a lot to see SQ in retro MSA livery!

So would I but as said before by other SQTalkers, too much politics will be involved to make that happen.
