  • Self upgrading............... in a HOTEL?

We've all heard stories, or even seen people who had 59K on their boarding pass plonking themselves into 4F and acting all innocent when the real 4F occupant comes by haven't we?

Well..... have you heard of a self upgrade in a hotel? I KNOW this happened cause the upgradee was ME!

Cue Nov 11, Hyatt Regency Johor Bahru.

Reception: So we have you in a deluxe room, 732.

    Me: Thanks

Get up to room 723 just as housekeeping's just leaving. Don't use keycard. Get comfy, have a shower then go out. Turns out 723 is a corner deluxe room, and has a view of Singapore as opposed to a view of Danga Mall.

Go out, get a call a few hours later from the front desk........ said "oops"
They said - never mind, you can stay..... i felt bad and offered to pay the difference but they wouldn't take it. This could be the start of another relationship with HGP i think

LOL! Good response from HGP though.

I would concur that going to the wrong room is entirely possible. I seem to have a very poor memory for room numbers and used to try opening the wrong room doors when I get back to hotel rooms after a day out, sometimes on entirely different floors! And I'd feel so stupid whenever I return to the front desk wanting to report a defective ving card, only to be told that I got the wrong room!

But then one time in Paris I got into trouble as the guest was actually in the room when I tried to get into it, banging on it thinking that my parents would let me in. I didn't understand French and couldn't for the figure life of me figure out what was going on when a flustered hotel staff member approached me with 2 security officers and escorted me to the lobby. But thankfully it was all sorted out in the end.

Now I record my room number into my mobile phone.

One time I made a mistake and I entered the housekeeping room.... is this a selfupgrade?????
There's only One way to fly.... SINGAPORE AIRLINES!
If SQ is too expensive, the other way to fly is Qatar Airways

Maybe....if you emerge with a bagful of Molton Brown or Bliss bath products.
