  • After BUS (which just started), it seems like AMD will be the longest A330 flight at 5.5 hours. It warrants a change soon. Perhaps the upcoming SH* batch would do that.

SQ277 will be operated by the regional A359s.

I think it might swapped to the A350R in Dec if the next plane arrived in Dec. guess right now they do not have a certain delivery date yet. So they marked the plane as A330. At least pax won’t complain if it is upgraded to A350R.

Seem like the flight in Dec are almost sold out. SQ is selling return ticket price at around SGD1800 for economy seats. Ridiculous price.

If an airline doesn’t have sold out flights to/from Australian capital cities in December then they are really doing something wrong! Sometimes they can also fill ADL flights by using VA to get passengers to ADL from MEL when MEL flights sell out which they inevitably do.

Yeah, 3 weekly with A333 in DEC 19, then 4 weekly with A359R in JAN 20.

About STC, my guess is that the lessor is giving a very attractive price to SIA since there probably won’t be a buyer for such an old A330.
Yes, what you said is correct. Currently the market is saturated with pre-loved A332/A333 especially Etihad Airways and numerous others just offloaded or in process of offloading their entire A330 family fleet due to A350 and B787 deliveries. Airbus is also wanting to get rid of few HNA Group factory fresh ntu. Hopefully some charter outfit will pick them up, otherwise expect these later retirees to be scrapped.

                • Are we again looking at a case of “parts more valuable than airframe”, given that the A330s were talking about - including STC - are comparatively new (10yrs) and SSA is 5yrs old. Many of the A330s which other airlines are looking to offload are all markedly older. Cathay still flies it’s 23yr old A330s, as do Garuda.

                  • I sincerely hope that the world can still find a need for a 5 year old A330. Aside from the monetary cost, there are environmental costs of every new aircraft we produce, as well as when it’s disposed of.

                    • Sadly, wastage will always be a trend in this world.
Imagine the A320s that will join the scrap pile in future then. And all the A380s.
Seems as if present day aircraft depreciate faster. Wonder what kind of impact that will have on airlines’ books and whether that will eventually drive the cost of air travel back up once again.
