*G benefits without the physical card?

Dearerst apologies if this has been discussed but the search function didn't help.

Got a question from a friend: He lost his *G card and replacing it is going take while. He does, however have photocopies of his card. Do the lounge dragons have a database to verify the *G members? Or do they verify based solely on the evidence provided (eg print outs)?

He will be flying GG but for some reason his BPs are sill reflecting A3 *S

I've met some lounge dragons as you call them in Continental and SAS who guard access as if it's coming out of their pockets! Even if they have a blessed system to check, they insist on having the valid-dated card with the magnetic strip!

How about getting the check-in agents to put *G on the bp? Can they do so with just a photocopy?
